Trauma, Torture and human rights courses
These courses are designed for health and allied professionals to make
them aware of the consequences of torture and human rights abuse and
their role in promotion, prevention and identification of torture
survivors. These are tailored according to the participant's needs,
place of work and professions.
1. General Aims of the course
- The participants would understand the concepts of mental heath and
mental health
- the participants would examine the relation between mental health and
human rights
- The participants would understand the bio-psycho-social consequences
of torture and human rights violations
- The participants would understand the peaceful ways of solving
conflicts
- The Participants would anaylise the role of health professionals and
politicians in prevention of human rights abuse
- Decision making skills
- The participants will understand the psychology of victim and cycle
of violence.
2 Out come
- Participants will know more about strengths and weakness mental
health as a concept
- Examine different definitions of mental health and mental illness in
relation to human rights
- Participants would be aware of the international low of human rights
and its applications
- Participants will learn the skills of solving problems
- Participants would understand the psychology of victim
- Participants will understand the skills of decision making and people
involvement in decisions related to their life
- The participants would understand the different method s of torture
- The role of health professionals in promoting human rights and
prevention of torture and human rights abuse
