"MOHAMMAD, JAMMED LIKE SARDINES"

Mohammad is 16 years old. He is in his third year of preparatory school. He was injured on Monday March 3rd, 2008 am at 6:00 At that time, together with his friends, they were watching the aftermath of a demolition that took place right after an incursion occurred in Jabalya. As they were watching and playing, the drone plane shot a rocket at them. Mohammad was injured in his lower limbs, but, the left leg was in a much more difficult case. The right leg was broken…he was burnt in his left hand and face. After he was injured, Mohammad was running in the street trying to get rescued. By chance, a car from the Ministry of Health, was passing by, which took him and his friends to the nearest hospital. All the children were jammed in the same car, where his friend's amputated legs were placed on Mohammad's chest. Such incident was very traumatizing for Mohammad. Mohammad was transferred to Shifa hospital, where he received immediate medical treatment. The Psychologist Hasan Zeyadh visited him and his family at the hospital on 10/03/ 2008 in order to provide psychological support. Debriefing sessions was conducted, where he talked about his feelings that accompanied the incident. He talked about his reactions about this experience from an emotional and psychological levels. During the hospital visit, it was found that Mohammad was suffering from recurrent re-experiencing and frequent flashbacks and recalling of the incident, particularly, the amputated legs of his friend, which was placed on his chest. He feels restlessness. He keeps recalling the voice of the plane and the explosion . He avoids talking about the traumatizing event. He is suffering from extreme stress, and he startles from any loud noise that may occur near him.
