Spanish Delegation from Seville University Visits GCMHP
As part of the agreement between GCMHP and Seville University, a Spanish delegation visits GCMHP. The delegation was headed by Dr. Maria Jose Lera, Professor of Psychology at Seville University. The delegation met with Dr. Ahmad Abu Tawahina, Deputy Director General of GCMHP and a number of department heads and professionals of the program. As part of their mission the university team held a training course under the title "the Golden Approach", with participation of 45 of professionals of GCMHP, school counselors of the ministry of Education, and some employees of American School in Gaza. The course lasted for three days and was held at the main training hall of GCMHP. The aim of the training course was to introduce this approach to overcome a number of difficulties that face teachers in order to increase the academic achievements of students in general. It's also aimed to develop educational strategies that reduce the level of unacceptable social behaviors. The process of this approach relies on the selection of five students of each class room and the implementation of the techniques on them so that they become a role model for other students. During the implementation, positive reinforcement techniques are used as the basis as well as developing the skills of teachers of managing the classrooms. It is worth mentioning that during the visit of the Spanish team, a media team accompanied them to report the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian community and visit the affected areas near the borders such as north and south.
