Gaza Community Mental Health Programme Denounces the Assaults on Christian Holy Places in Palestine
Gaza Community Mental Health Programme denounces the series of assaults on Christian churches in Palestine following the Vatican Pope Benedict the 16th declarations' defaming Islam and the prophet Mohammad, may peace be upon him. We, at Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, believe that such attacks are rejected and do not fall into the Palestinian national interests. We also stress that the announcements of the Pope should not be used under any pretext to drive wedges between Palestinian people, who are in desperate need for national unity under the current circumstances that they are challenged with as a result of Israeli aggression and international sanctions. We, at Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, denounce such attacks on the Christian holy places, and we reject all insults and harm to Islamic convections and religious symbols. We believe that such offences require an immediate and blatant personal apology by the Vatican Pope to Islam and Muslims worldwide. We call upon all our people including Muslims and Christians for more unity and cohesion in order to attain our utmost national interests. We, also call upon the Palestinian Security Forces to work diligently to protect the holy places of Christians and ensure that no clashes are taking place in order to protect the Palestinian national unity of any plots or prejudiced actions.
