GCMHP Condemns the Assassination of Moussa Arafat and Demands Respect of the Rule of Law

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme condemns the Assassination of Maj. Gen. Mousa Arafat, the former head of the military intelligence service in Gaza Strip and military advisor for President Mahmoud Abbas and the kidnapping of his son.

In this regard, GCMHP emphasizes the need to respect the rule of law and reiterates that the lawlessness must be stopped.

As GCMHP denounces this attack and the policy of assassinations in general, it believes that this attack represents a dangerous indication of the deterioration of security conditions, a sign of absence of central authority, diminishing the rule of law and underestimating its legitimacy.

GCMHP calls upon the Palestinian Authority to take full responsibility in enforcing the rule of law and ensuring security and stability in the whole Palestinian society. We also demand that perpetrators should be brought to justice.
