The Israeli shelling caused massive damage in GCMHP Headquarter in Gaza

At about 1:50 am of Tuesday December 30^th, 2008, the Israeli F16 Airplanes shelled a Palestinian police site in Gaza, which is 70 meters away from GCMHP’s Main Building in Sheikh Ejleen on Gaza Beach. The shelling was part of the vicious military attacks that the Israeli Army launched over Gaza since December 27^th, 2008.

This harsh shelling caused massive destruction in the main building of GCMHP, where walls and fore ceilings cracked completely and partially. Extreme damage reached the furniture, equipments, electrical and electronic devices as well as the files and documents that were in the four floors building, which contains offices, training halls, main library, and financial and administrative departments.   

Luckily, the guard, who was in the premises, was not harmed. However, he was in a state of panic due to the strength of explosions.

As a result, the tremendous destruction to the building and its contents and equipments will force GCMHP to suspend its operations for some time, due to necessity for renovation, before resumption of work.

A number of management staff and Board of Directors visited the Programme to evaluate the damages and make arrangements that ensures the protection of the building in these difficult times that Gaza is going through. 

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme denounces this brutal action and the attacks that target everything in Gaza. We, call upon the international community to urgently intervene and make all their efforts to protect  Palestinian civilians and institutions in Gaza, which are under real danger of death and destruction.

القصف الإسرائيلي يلحق أضرار فادحة بالمقر الرئيسي لبرنامج غزة للصحة النفسية

في الساعة 01:50 صباح يوم الثلاثاء 30-12-2008 قامت طائرات حربية إسرائيلية من طراز F16 بقصف إحدى المواقع للشرطة الفلسطينية بغزة التي تبعد حوالي 70 متر عن المبنى الرئيسي لبرنامج غزة للصحة النفسية بحي الشيخ عجلين على شاطئ بحر غزة وذلك ضمن الحملة العسكرية الشرسة التي ينفذها الجيش الإسرائيلي على غزة منذ السبت الماضي 27 ديسمبر 2008.

وقد الحق هذا القصف العنيف أضرار هائلة بمبنى البرنامج حيث تصدعت الجدران وانهارت بعض السقوف وتحطمت النوافذ والأبواب والزجاج بشكل كلي أو جزئي، كما لحقت أضرار جسيمة بالأثاث والمعدات والأجهزة الالكترونية والكهربائية والملفات والوثائق المتواجدة بالمبنى المكون من أربع طوابق ويحتوي على مكاتب وصالات تدريب والمكتبة الرئيسية والدوائر الإدارية والمالية للبرنامج.

هذا ولم يلحق هذا القصف أي أضرار بشرية لحسن الحظ حيث كان يتواجد حارس المبنى بالمكان الذي أصابه الهلع من قوة الانفجارات.

وسيؤدي هذا الدمار الشديد لمبنى المؤسسة ومحتوياتها ومعداتها إلى إعاقة قدرة المؤسسة على استئناف العمل في الوقت القريب حيث تحتاج إلى إعادة ترميم كبير قبل إمكانية العودة للعمل من جديد.

وقد توجه عدد من المسئولين الإداريين من البرنامج ومجلس الإدارة صباح اليوم إلى مقر البرنامج حيث تم تفقد الأضرار وعمل بعض الترتيبات التي من شانها حماية المؤسسة والحفاظ عليها في هذا الوقت العصيب الذي تعيشه غزة.

إن برنامج غزة للصحة النفسية إذ يدين هذا العمل الوحشي وهذه الاعتداءات التي لم يسلم منها أي شيء في غزة، فانه يطالب بضرورة التدخل العاجل لوقف هذا العدوان الكبير وعمل كل ما يمكن لحماية أرواح المدنيين والمؤسسات في غزة التي يتهددها الموت والدمار.
