Gaza Community Mental Health Programme Strongly Condemns
Bombings in the Egyptian City Dahab

On April 24th, a number of bombings targeted the Egyptian city of Dahab, where more than 20 people were killed and more than 70 injured in a third incident of its kind within the last two years in Egyptian cities; including Taba and Sharm El-Sheikh.

The bombings coincided with Christian Easter holidays and the Egyptian celebrations of Senai liberation. The tragedy left Egyptians with feelings of shock, sadness, and anger, as most of the victims are civilian Egyptians.

We, at the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, express our feelings of deep shock for this barbaric act and for the big number of victims of innocent civilians. We strongly condemn the terrorist actions that target civilians, and express the need for collective efforts to fight this evil and its roots worldwide. We stress that murderers must be followed and brought to justice. We, also, emphasize that these actions distort Islam and its values and principles, and cause great damage for the just causes of Muslims and Arabs in the world.

Violence and counter-violence brings nothing but a vicious cycle of hatred, mistrust, fear, and feelings of insecurity.

In this sad occasion, GCMHP expresses its sincere condolences to the President and Government of Egypt, and to the families of all the victims, and wishes for the soon recovery of the injured, hoping that Egypt will always enjoy peace and security.
