Gaza Community Mental Health Programme Strongly Condemns
the Attack on the International Committee of the Red Cross Convoy
GCMHP strongly condemns the attack on the International Committee of the Red Cross ( IRCC) convoy, in which an explosive device exploded when the convoy passed near Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza Strip. The attack led to material damages to one of the cars. The IRCC media spokesman, Eyad Nasir said " The convoy was carrying eight foreign employees to Erez".
This attack is a continuation of the state of security laxity and the use of weapons in the Gaza Strip which human rights organizations repeatedly warned against.
In this regard, GCMHP expresses its strong condemnation of this attack on an international organization working in very difficult and complicated circumstances to render its services to the Palestinians. The Programme points out that these acts happen at a time when we need all efforts of all local and international organizations.
The Programmes is concerned over the phenomenon of attacking international organizations, at a time when the Israeli grave violations are escalating against our people. GCMHP renews its respect and appreciation to the Red Cross and other international organizations working in Palestine for their distinguished work in the Palestinian Occupied Territories, especially during the last Israeli war on Gaza.
We at GCMHP, confirm that such an act is carried out by some people who do not belong to the Palestinian people and do not represent their will and principles. Such acts threaten the rule of law and negatively affect the interest of the Palestinians and their just cause.
The Programme strongly condemns this attack and all attacks targeting local and international organizations. We call for the General Prosecution and all different security forces to seriously investigate this incident and all incidents related to security laxity calling on the government to shoulder its responsibility and immediately move to discover those behind this attack and bring them to justice.
