"Gaza Community Mental Health Programme Welcomes the News about Agreement to Form National Unity Government"

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme welcomes the news about an initial agreement for a national political program and a national unity government, with participation of all Palestinian factions including Fatah and Hamas movements.

This agreement and the constitution of a national unity government endorse the national interests and will of all Palestinian society in their efforts to gain their legitimate rights in freedom, independence, and protection of citizens.

We, believe that the national unity government, based on respect of human rights and international resolutions, agreements, and obligations to Palestinians are the best means to confront the internal Palestinian conflicts, as well as dealing with the international community in an efficient manner. Such unity makes our position and Palestinian cause more acceptable as well as brings back the international solidarity movement with the Palestinians rights at the official and unofficial levels.

The success of the Palestinian national unity is considered a challenge that Palestinians should overcome in order to break through the international stand that imposes strict siege and sanctions on Palestinian people. It will also oblige the world to deal with the results of the Palestinian democratic elections as well as respect of the choice of the people in selecting their representatives. The unity also contributes to the struggle of Palestinians to gain all their political and humanitarian rights.

In this regard, we value the role of many local and regional parties to achieve all the agreements. We particularly respect and value the contributions of the Egyptian government in their efforts in the extensive discussions that resulted in reaching a national agreement.
