Gaza Community Mental Health Programme held a training
course entitled" school mediation and children's mental health"

The Gaza Community Center of GCMHP held a training course entitled " school mediation and children's mental health" with participation of 20 graduates of psychology, sociology, social work, and counseling which will continue for 10 days totaling 48 training hours. The trainers will be professionals from Gaza Community Center.
The Psychologist Hassan Zeyada, Manager of Gaza Community Center welcomed the participants, pointing to the significance of this course and its application.
On the first day, two Mental Health Workers, Rawyah Hamam and Ismael Ahmed talked about violence phenomenon at schools, its causes, effects, and definition of mediation, principles of mediation and the impact of mediation in decreasing violence at schools.
The course contains many important topics over the period of 2 weeks. The first week is about school mediation, and the second about the children's mental health; including a number of lectures dealing with some psychological and behavioral problems of children and the mechanisms of recognition and dealing with such problems.
It is worth mentioning that this course comes as part of children project which tackles the issue of decreasing violent behavior through alternative ways including the use of techniques of school mediation. In addition, a group of trainees will be chosen as assistants for the psychologists and social workers who will be implementing the school mediation program.
