Mohammed Mukhaimar lectured at University of Leicester in UK

Mohammed Mukhaimar a Psychologist from Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) delivered a lecture about mental health services in Gaza Strip. The audience were PhD students and faculty members of the Clinical Psychology Department at the University of Leicester. The lecture focused on the historical development of the mental health services in Gaza Strip considering the establishment of GCMHP as milestone in this regard. In addition, extensive discussion took place about different challenges that mental health professionals constantly encounter as a result of the current political situation and the impact of the Israeli ongoing organised violence against the Palestinian population. Finally, the lecture discussed the evaluation of utilizing western psychotherapeutic approaches within the Palestinian culture as an issue that has been sparked within the professional society in the recent days, so GCMHP endeavours it.
