Press Release

On Thursday, July 7th, four tragic bombings hit the British capital of London. Over 50 civilians were killed and over 700 were injured.

Those claimed responsible for these attacks announced that they committed such acts in the name of Islam, as revenge for the UK policies in the Middle East.

We, at Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, are deeply shocked by the barbaric act, by the high number of innocent civilians killed and injured, and by using Islam to justify these cruel and inhumane acts.
Islam is a religion of peace, justice, and humanity, where life of the innocent is sacred.

The violence we are witnessing nowadays is not a war between Islam and the Western civilization, but; an evil obsession of terrorist governments, groups and ideologies. Violence and counter-violence create a vicious circle that deepens hatred, mistrust, and insecurity. The victims are always the innocent.

GCMHP strongly condemns these terrorist attacks and targeting innocent civilians in London and elsewhere in the world. This proves the need to intensify our collective efforts to confront terror and dealing with its roots worldwide. This horrific incident proves the need to increase our determination and collective work towards building tolerance, forgiveness, and peace.

On this sad occasion, Gaza Community Mental Health Programme would like to extend its sincere condolences to the people of the United Kingdom and to the families of the victims, wishing them to find strength and courage in these moments of sadness and grief.
