GCMHP Held a Graduation Ceremony for 15 Psychodrama Specialists

GCMHP held a graduation ceremony for 15 professionals who have graduated from the psychodrama course which took place from 2002-2006. The training was conducted by two specialists from Medico International in Switzerland. The participants were professionals from GCMHP and Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees (UPMRC).

In the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad Abu Tawahina, Deputy Director General of GCMHP welcomed the guests, the graduates, and the two psychodrama specialists who conducted the training. Dr. Abu Tawahina highlighted the positive impact that such training of psychodrama has for Palestinians in these difficult circumstances and for the importance to use different techniques in alleviating the negative effects of Israeli violence on the whole Palestinian society.

Dr. Ursula Hauser, a psycho-dramatist, who co-trained in the psychodrama course, said that she is proud of the graduates and admires their high commitment under the hardship situations that they are living under. She added that the graduates are now capable to use the knowledge they gained in application in their daily work with clients. Dr. Hauser thanked GCMHP and UPMRC for giving them the opportunity and support throughout the training.

On her Part, Dr. Maja Hess, the president of Medico International-Switzerland, and the co-trainer of the course, thanked the participants, GCMHP and Medical Relief for the opportunity that they have provided for the trainees in order to make the training a success. Dr. Hess praised the international and local network of organizations and wished for a continuation of the joint efforts in order to hold more training and to apply the gained knowledge with a wider group of people. She added that such network is important to share experiences, to achieve work for Palestinians in order to have positive contributions.

Representing UPMRC, Abdel Hady Abu-Khousa thanked Medico International and GCMHP for their efforts in holding this training course, calling for more networking and generalization of the concepts of psychodrama.

On behalf of the graduates, Mohamad Abu Maghaseeb from UPMRC and Ayat Abu Jayab from GCMHP thanked the two trainers, GCMHP, Medico International, and UPMRC for their joint efforts in making such training a success and giving the professionals the opportunity to be part of it.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad Abu Tawahina gave GCMHP emblem to the Trainers, and distributed the certificates to the graduates.
